Blog for Poverty!
Life without the basics
Lacking the most basic essentials – water, a balanced diet, education, health care, transport – fundamentally undermines people’s ability to live life in dignity and security. Without clean water, children fall ill and parents can’t pay for medical care.
Without transport, farmers can’t get their goods to market. As income falls, there’s not enough money to buy food. Children become malnourished and their growth stunted. And without savings, there’s nothing to fall back on. How does a family make its way back from such extreme poverty?
Children are the future – aren’t they?
- Of the 2.2 billion children in the world, one billion – almost half – live in poverty
- 10.9 million children die every year before they reach the age of five
- A child dies every five seconds because she or he is hungry
- Every year, 17 million children are born undernourished because their mothers don’t have enough to eat
- More than a billion children will not go to school this year – 65% of them girls.

I like the post on kids because it shows the direction our world is heading in. For the good or the bad.
This s so true Anthony. Poverty prevents people living a full and enriched life.
Oh my !

That is awful… you sure had alot of information in that great post! Well done, you wrote it well. I can’t believe so many kids don’t go to school and are missing out on so much, as well as all the kids who are dying in just minutes. My! GOD HELP THEM.
And yes, children are the future! If they are taken care of properly, sheltered, fed, and given money and water, than our history and generation could be in danger. BAD.
It is just sad to see all the information you wrote is true… I wish someone could do something to save people in poverty. I will as much as I can, and when I grow up, I shall go to all the countries in need and help them out!!!
I cannot stand seeing poverty people under risk when they are humans like us. Shouldn’t they be treated the same?
Well, thanks Shannon and Kourtney for commenting.
