With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it is easy to forget that the human family lives on a small blue planet named Earth. All around us we see trees, animals, cars, buildings, farms, factories, stores, and other natural and man-made structures. Our next task is to find out as much as we can about the International year of planet Earth…,….

REMEMBER REMEMBER
The 5th of November
Bonfire Night
Bonfire Night is a uniquely British event when we “celebrate” the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot against the King and Parliament in the early 17th Century. In fact, nobody cares about the origins of the celebration anymore, but we all enjoy a good bonfire, firework display, and sausages on the 5th November each year!

Blog for Poverty!
Life without the basics
Lacking the most basic essentials – water, a balanced diet, education, health care, transport – fundamentally undermines people’s ability to live life in dignity and security. Without clean water, children fall ill and parents can’t pay for medical care.
Without transport, farmers can’t get their goods to market. As income falls, there’s not enough money to buy food. Children become malnourished and their growth stunted. And without savings, there’s nothing to fall back on. How does a family make its way back from such extreme poverty?
Children are the future – aren’t they?
- Of the 2.2 billion children in the world, one billion – almost half – live in poverty
- 10.9 million children die every year before they reach the age of five
- A child dies every five seconds because she or he is hungry
- Every year, 17 million children are born undernourished because their mothers don’t have enough to eat
- More than a billion children will not go to school this year – 65% of them girls.
